About Peppy’s Universe

Miss Lisa is an Early Childhood Educator and Behavioural Interventionist with over 20 years of experience working with children across the full spectrum of development — both neurotypical children and children on the autism spectrum. She began her journey running her own home daycare before becoming a Preschool Teacher, and has spent close to two decades running classrooms — building a rich, hands-on foundation that shapes everything she creates today.

Throughout her career, Miss Lisa has worked with both typical and neurodivergent children and adults, supporting a wide range of learning styles, emotional needs, and developmental journeys. She has taught and supervised practicum students, mentoring the next generation of educators, and has developed curriculum for children ages 3–5 — including Junior Kindergarten and Private Kindergarten programs — all aligned with British Columbia, Canada School District Guidelines.

In every setting, with every child, she saw the same truth: children don’t misbehave. They communicate. And when we give them the tools to understand what’s happening inside them, everything changes.

Peppy’s Universe was created to bring those tools home to every family.

The Science Behind the Stories

Peppy’s Universe is grounded in proven behavioural frameworks and emotional science — simplified so children can truly understand and use them every day.

Zones of Regulation® is a widely used, evidence-based curriculum developed by Leah Kuypers, M.A. Ed., OTR/L, designed to help children develop self-regulation and emotional control. Miss Lisa has expanded on this framework and simplified it into Up and Down Feelings — making it accessible, relatable, and easy for young children to understand and apply in their daily lives.

The SPANE Scale (Scale of Positive and Negative Experience) was developed by Ed Diener, Ph.D. — one of the world’s leading researchers in the science of well-being and positive psychology. SPANE measures the full range of human emotions and is used in research worldwide to understand emotional balance and life satisfaction. Peppy’s Universe draws on this emotional framework to help children identify, name, and navigate their feelings with confidence.

Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences reminds us that every child is smart in their own unique way — every child is an artist. We just need to help bring that out in them. Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences include Musical-Rhythmic, Naturalist, Logical-Mathematical, Visual-Spatial, Linguistic-Verbal, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, and Existential. Every child has a different learning style, and the resources in Peppy’s Universe are intentionally designed to help every child excel — through auditory, visual, and tactile experiences that make learning, communicatinga and relating stick.

How Do Children Learn Best?

With fun, love, hands-on experiences, and open communication. That’s why every resource in Peppy’s Universe is designed to support auditory, visual, and tactile learners — because every child deserves tools that meet them exactly where they are.

When children understand that their thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected — they become capable and accountable for their own outcomes. Children learn that they can affect their world, with their energy and their actions. That is the foundation of true confidence and lifelong success.
